I had the chance to capture one of Custom Work’s recently completed projects in Brookline last month and was blown away by the level of the workmanship and really close attention to detail that they brought to the table. This was the first time I had photographed for them and talking through with the homeowner it was clear to see that Joe and the rest of the Custom Works’ team really go the extra mile with the work that they do.

This was a wonderful traditional New England home to photograph that was packed full of details and very precise craftsmanship. The property had a lot of very unique features that were still there from the original build, although some of them needed some TLC to bring them back to past glories. Custom Works did a really detailed and painstaking job to preserve these original features and where additions were made, that they were done in a style that would compliment what was there already. They installed the fireplace that ran through the dining room into the kitchen area and used tiling that would fit perfectly into the space and decor. The new wood working was done do match the existing wood, be it around the fireplace or the trim on the new windows that were put it. Once they had finished it was a seamless blend between new and old, exactly as the homeowners had requested.

The long galley kitchen was really nice to photograph and shooting it from a number of different angles highlighted the key details in each area. The table and dining area at the end offered a nice airy space to eat in when something less formal than the dining room was needed. The details throughout every room really made each one special. The nails in the cupboard draws were specially source and individually added. When photographing architecture and interiors it’s always nice to know the small details that go into making the overall space as these all come together for the final vision

The kitchen was designed to maximize space and incorporate some of the furniture that the family already owned and treasured. Custom Works – as the name suggests – did a really great job of combining these two sets into something that was both very unique and also very practical, meeting the exact requirements laid down.

The last room I’m showcasing here was something very special. A secret wine cellar tucked away behind a bookcase. Pulling down the correct book unlocked the door and allowed you into the room, with a nice little get away and secret stash of some wonderful wines waiting.

Custom Works craftsmanship was not only limited to inside the home and they also created a wonderful outdoor patio and fireplace area, perfect for spending a evening outside entertaining guests or with the family. Should the fire place not provide enough heat, wall mounted heaters above the doors to the house provided extra warmth from another angle, meaning that the temperature of the space outside could be controlled perfectly.

A big thanks to Joe over at Custom Works for getting me in on this shoot, definitely be sure to check out more of their work over on their site.

It was great to see such attention to detail when capturing a space such as this and if you have completed a similar project and are looking to have it captured to showcase on your website or in print then it would be great to photograph this for you. Please don’t hesitate to get in touch by clicking here and we can schedule a time to talk over and walk through the spaces that you would like captured.

Cheers,
